mid-day’s curated heritage walk series is back, this time with a trail through Bombay’s shipping hub Ballard Estate. COVID-19 rules didn’t allow us to invite you to join, but you can walk the route virtually with us on our YouTube channel

The Doric columned Port Trust War Memorial in the charming and well-planned business district of Ballard Estate in South Mumbai might today be shorn of its historic glory. But, it remains one of the city’s last reminders of India’s contribution to World War 1 (1914-18).
This imposing sandstone structure was one of the halts in the first edition of Walk With Mid-day Season 2, with Features Editor, Fiona Fernandez. The initiative involves curating immersive heritage walks through lesser-known parts of the city with mid-day’s readers.
