Maximalist chic or minimalist glam — satin skirts can be whatever you want them to be, with the right finishing touches

Once relegated to ball gowns and sleepwear, satin has now entered its cool girl era in the form of midi and maxi-length skirts that can be dressed up or down, as the occasion demands. From workwear to casual brunches, to date nights, the skirt does it all, and it wouldn’t be a stretch to claim it as the latest but also most unassuming addition to the modern-day capsule wardrobe. “The reason why this skirt works is because it is easy to wear, suits a variety of body types, and instantly elevates your outfit by adding luxe movement. It also can be paired in unexpected ways to go from daytime chic to relaxed eveningwear,” says fashion designer Aanchal Bubber-Mehta.
