Police say that all the accused have a criminal record and they may have kept an eye on the truck right from its starting point before intercepting it
The Talegaon Dabhade police have managed to crack a case of a road robbery, in which a truck containing cigarette boxes worth Rs 1.8 crore was hijacked and taken away by a group of road robbers. They have arrested ten crooks in the case.

The incident took place near Indori village at Wadgaon Maval taluka on May 22 this year. The police have, however, failed to recover the stolen booty from suspects.
The truck belongs to ITC company at Ranjangaon, MIDC area. On the day the vehicle was hijacked, the driver Machhindra Khedkar from Aurangabad was heading to Mumbai to transport goods.
“At around 10 pm, some road robbers intercepted the truck and told Khedekar that he had brushed their vehicle while driving the truck and brought him outside,” said deputy superintendent of police (Dehuroad Division) Vinayak Dhakane.
He said that the court has remanded the accused to seven days of police custody and interrogation is still on. “We have formed four teams to trace the cigarettes and nab other suspects,” he said.
The suspects may have kept watch on the truck all the way from Ranjangaon, MIDC area, before intercepting it. He said that on Tuesday the Talegaon Dabhade police managed to arrest 10 suspects. However, none of the booty has been recovered.
The police have identified the arrested persons as Sunil Nanaware (33), Govind Gaikwad (35), Mahesh Kamble (19), Anand Bhalerao (19), all residents of Tadiwala Road, Milind Bhalerao (24), Tushar Kamble (24), both from Mahatma Phule Vasahat, Pune, Sushant Bhandari (25) of Dapodi, Chillappa Pujari (40) of Vadgaosheri, Ketan Salle (21) of Shrigonda and Ravi Mawle (24) of Parner in Ahmednagar district.
Dhakane said that all the suspects have a criminal record and several cases of theft and robbery have been lodged against them in Pune as well as in rural areas.u00a0
