54 rash riders arrested in midnight crackdown in Mumbai

Traffic police have seized 52 motorbikes in surprise drive from 11pm to 3am, on Sunday say action will continue against the nuisance for two more weeks

Stepping up action against bikers driving rashly and speeding at night, the Mumbai Traffic Police arrested 54 people and seized 51 motorcycles at Bandra, Worli and Santacruz areas on Sunday night. The drive, as part of which the CCTV control room of the traffic police was monitoring select locations across the city, started at 11 pm and continued till 3 am. 

On Sunday night, under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police, Praveen Padwal and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Nandkumar Thakur, the traffic cops set up tight security in Haji Ali, Worli, Bandra, Vakola and Santacruz areas. Padwal was keeping a close watch on the bikers through the control room and was also present on road when some of the actions were being taken.
