According to the police, a 32-year-old Cuffe Parade resident had approached them and filed a complaint against an unidentified man who would call her up and annoy her on the phone. “The accused had called up the victim more than four times and harassed her, after which she decided to lodge a complaint.
After we tracked the location of his phone, a police team was dispatched to Bihar and the accused was arrested on Monday morning,” said Senior Police Inspector Sharad Barde from Cuffe Parade police station. During interrogations, Mangal told the cops that a Delhi-based businessman had given him the number and asked him to call the woman up.
“Apart from this disclosure, he has not uttered a word. We are trying to ascertain who the businessman is, and how he got the complainant’s number. We have got custody of the accused and are investigating if he carried out similar transgressions on other people.” The accused has been booked under section 354 D (stalking) of the IPC.
