The deceased has been identified as Raju Hariram Purohit, a resident of Gokul Complex in Chakan. Police said Raju had left his residence to purchase a fish tank at 4.30 pm on Saturday. His father, who owns a construction materials shop, lodged a missing complaint with the police later in the night.
Raju’s body was found around 8 am the next day with throat slit and legs tied. A passer-by notified cops after spotting the body lying under the flyover at Talegaon Chowk on the Pune-Nashik highway.
Fall-out of feud?
Police said Raju’s neighbour Abdul Majid Shaikh might have murdered him over their family’s old enmity. “Raju’s uncle had an affair with Shaikh’s wife and when the relationship was exposed, both families had come to blows around a year ago. Fed up of the frequent brawls, Hariram asked his brother to leave the house and sent him to Rajasthan. Shaikh’s wife, along with her children, also left for Rajasthan. This may have led Abdul to exact revenge by murdering Raju,” said Sushil Kadam, inspector Chakan police station.u00a0
