Based on preliminary investigation, the cops have registered a case of murder against unknown assailants.
Another society resident who had come to the parking lot, discovered Rahmat Bi’s body and immediately informed the Kurar police. Soon, a team of officials reached the spot and took the body into custody, which was later sent to Bhagwati Hospital for post-mortem.
Investigations revealed that the deceased was a resident of a 3BHK apartment on the 10th floor, with a balcony overlooking the spot where she was found.
During interrogation, the family members claimed they knew nothing about the incident as they were sleeping. They were shocked at how an old woman, almost blind and confined to her bed, managed to reach the balcony and fall from it.

Foul play suspected Police sources said that this revelation about the old woman’s health sowed the seed of suspicion in the minds of investigating officers, who have now decided to treat this as a murder, rather than a suicide. Moreover, two of her grandsons and a granddaughter-in-law were present at home when the incident occurred. The woman’s 55-year-old daughter and her two sons were out.
An official said the wall of the balcony is less than three feet high, making it almost impossible for an old woman to jump over. The autopsy report revealed multiple fractures and grievous head injuries as the cause of death.
