Borivli school clerk arrested for embezzling fees worth Rs 14 lakh, sent to police custody till January 31

A written complaint was filed by the trustee of the private school in Devi Pada, Borivli (East) after the Kasturba Marg police booked her under various sections of IPC

The Kasturba Marg police have finally arrested the school clerk Swati Kadam for embezzling the school fess of students worth Rs 14 lakh after one month. She had allegedly embezzled the money for her own benefit by giving fake receipts to the parents.


During the investigation, it was found that the accused Kadam had cheated the school management for her personal gain. She was arrested on January 26 from Thane. She was produced before the court and the court remanded her police custody till January 31, said an officer from Kasturba Marg police station.


The incident came to light when the authorities tallied the accounts and learned that while hundreds of cheque numbers were entered in the records, not a single cheque was deposited. Kadam had been working as a clerk in the school for six years.


A written complaint was filed by the trustee of the private school in Devi Pada, Borivli (East) after the Kasturba Marg police booked her under various sections of IPC. No recovery has been made from the accused, the officer added.
