Covid-19: Mumbai crosses 400-cases mark again

Test positivity rate, too, sees a rise at 1.35 per cent

After Mumbai’s new cases fell below 400 on Monday,  the city saw a significant rise in new cases on Tuesday but Covid-19 fatalities remained the same. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 433 new cases were reported on Tuesday with two deaths.  The test positivity rate (TPR) too saw a rise and was 1.35%. The doubling rate remained constant at 1,154 days on Tuesday. Both the deceased had comorbidities and were above 60 years. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 525 people recovered and were discharged on Tuesday.

The state’s Covid-19 cases also saw a marginal rise along with fatalities. As per the state health department report, 2,401 cases were reported with 39 deaths. The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 2,840 people recovered and got discharged on Tuesday. Currently the state has 33,159 active cases. Like the state, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) saw a significant rise in new cases. As per the state report, 851 cases were reported in the MMR including cases from Mumbai.
