The Anti Extortion Cell (AEC) had apprehended an accused who was allegedly involved in robbing a mobile company's warehouse based in Pune.

According to the police, the incident took place on July 15 between 8:20 pm and 10:45 am of July 16 at the warehouse located on Keshnand Road in Wagholi, Pune. The alleged accused barged into the warehouse by breaking the roof.
The accused allegedly robbed over 105 iPhones and other valuables worth Rs 65 lakhs from the company's warehouse.
The Pune police (Lonikand police) then registered an FIR against the alleged accused and began to investigate the matter.
The AEC received a tip-off that an alleged accused would be coming near Masjid Bandar. The police acted on the tip-off and apprehended the alleged accused. The police revealed that he had sold several iPhones in the Masjid Bandar area over the past few days.
The accused has been identified as Tofajul Shaikh (32). During the investigation, the police apprehended the accused while he was selling iPhones at discounted prices to individuals in need. Shaikh confessed to breaking into the warehouse and stealing the iPhones.
Shaikh is a Jakharkhand-based fish seller and he has been handed over to Lonikand police station for further investigation, stated the police official.
The police stated that the suspect posed himself as a fish seller outside the iPhone warehouse in Pune and committed the crime while the warehouse was closed.
The Lonikand police have registered an FIR against unknown people under sections 454( trespassing), 457 ( House breaking), and 380 (Theft) of the IPC.
