An IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Lucknow was reportedly delayed on Friday after a male passenger allegedly said that there was a 'bomb under his seat,' reported the ANI.

According to the ANI, as per the Mumbai Police, it was claimed by the man during the ongoing boarding time, that a bomb had been planted under the seat in a Lucknow-bound Indigo flight.

The incident happened during the late hours of January 26th, the ANI reported on Saturday.

According to the Mumbai police, a passenger boarding Indigo flight number 6E 5264 from Mumbai to Lucknow said that there was a bomb under his seat, after which the flight was thoroughly checked. As soon as the information about this incident was received, Mumbai police and airport agencies reached the spot and investigated, the ANI reported.

"No suspicious object was found during the investigation," Mumbai Police said.

The Mumbai Police detained the 27-year-old passenger and registered a case against him under sections 506(2) and 505(1)(B) of the Indian Penal Code.

"Police are investigating why he did this," said Mumbai Police.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Mumbai Police had formed a special team to investigate emails threatening blasts in city, the PTI had earlier reported.

The decision was taken after hoax emails which threatened that 'bomb blasts' at multiple places in the city were termed as a hoax after security checks by the Mumbai Police officials.

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against unidentified persons after the management of a museum in Colaba received an email which said bombs had been planted at more than eight locations including the museum, the news agency had reported on January 6.

The other institutions named in the email received the same threat.

The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad searched the museum, located in south Mumbai, but nothing suspicious was found, the official had said.

A case under Indian Penal Code sections 505 (1) (b) (circulating rumour with intent to cause, or which is likely to cause, fear or alarm to the public), 506 (2) (criminal intimidation) and other relevant provisions was registered at the Colaba police station, he had said, according to the news agency.
