The police have arrested a man who is the antithesis of the good bhaiyya from lore and pop culture. He stole gold jewellery worth Rs 1.60 lakh and cash Rs 25 lakh from his elder sister’s house. She had kept the cash and valuables for the scheduled wedding ceremony of their younger sister.

The Mira-Bhayander-Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate’s Crime Branch Unit 1 arrested the 28-year-old man, Farman Javed Khan, from Gujarat on Sunday. Khan is an auto driver who stays in Malwani with his wife and children. The complainant, Tarannum Khan, had arranged around Rs 25 lakh cash and jewellery worth Rs 1.60 lakh for their younger sister’s wedding. On Friday, the police said Khan went to the complainant’s house to sleep, pretending to have a headache. Later Tarannum’s family went for a wedding. When they returned they found Khan was not there and the jewellery and cash were missing.
