The Shanti Nagar police has arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with 11 theft cases in Bhiwandi and Thane. Investigations revealed that the accused committed the crime to fund his upcoming wedding.

The accused told the police that he was to have an arranged marriage in January 2022, and he wanted to impress his soon-to-be in-laws. The police seized a mangalsutra and 10 vehicles, including five bikes and five cars, from him.
The accused has been identified as Shivsingh Babri, a resident of Temghar area in Bhiwandi. Following his involvement in a chain-snatching case, the police managed to trace him with the help of CCTV camera footage.
Speaking with mid-day, Police Inspector Vikram Mohite of Shanti Nagar police station said, “Babri committed all the crimes this year. His marriage was fixed in January 2021 with a girl from a poor financial background. He wanted to impress her and her family.” Another officer told mid-day that the accused also wanted to help his in-laws with the wedding expenses. “Further investigations are on.”
