Another person fell prey to online fraudsters and lost Rs 1.5 lakh. The complainant, a 46-year-old social worker, said the accused had asked her to send Rs 5 towards courier charges.

Swati Rajkumar Bhansali alleged that her husband had received a call stating that there was a courier for him, for which he needed to transfer Rs 5 on GPay. “I transferred the money to the number he provided but the caller said he did not get it. Then, he sent me another number and asked me to send a message to that number four times. He had also forwarded the message, which had some text and a link, to me. After this, I sent R5 to that number,” she said.

Bhansali said, “The next day, around Rs 1.5 lakh got debited from my account in four transactions.”
