Mumbai Police on Tuesday booked a 33-year-old hotelier for allegedly molesting 32-year-old woman in a parking lot of a high rise at Mahalakshmi. The hotelier, allegedly drunk, assaulted the woman when she reportedly refused to leave a house party.

The police have registered FIR against the accused in NM Joshi Marg police station, on the complaint of the victim, however, he is yet to be arrested.
The woman, owner of an event management company and anchor, had met the hotelier Bipin Kumar Singh, at an event on the day of Holi. After a couple of meetings, the complainant met Singh on February 13 night with her friends. Soon after dinner, all went to a friend’s place at Mahalakshmi where they partied and got drunk.
According to the FIR, after getting drunk, Bipin started misbehaving with the women present at the party. “Everyone at the party insisted Bipin to leave as he was behaving inappropriately with women. When I tried to make him understand, he insisted that I leave the party with him,” the complainant told police in her statement.

Although Kumar left the party but he came back again and tried to take the complainant with him. She resisted and Bipin allegedly slapped and injured her.
“After hitting me, he left the party, I followed him to question his behavior,” she said in the complaint. “Around 9.30 in the morning, when we came to the parking area, he hit me again, put his hand in my mouth and punched me. When I fell down, he even kicked me in the stomach and touched me inappropriately.”
After the incident, the complainant said that her friends took her to KEM Hospital where a medical check-up was done.
The hospital authorities informed Police who eventually booked Singh under IPC section 354 (Assault or criminal force to women with intent to outrage her modesty) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt).
Sunil Chandramore, Senior Inspector of NM Joshi Marg police station said that they have registered FIR based on the complaint filed by the victim. Further investigation is going on, he said.
