A 75-year-old doctor from Goregaon East approached the Vanrai Police on Wednesday after he allegedly received an extortion letter from a Maoist group. Through the letter, delivered to him at his clinic by a woman, the group has threatened to kill him and his son if he did not give them Rs 50 lakh.
According to police sources, the doctor was in his clinic on Wednesday when a woman in a burqa approached him and handed over the letter. As there were a number of patients at the clinic, he did not open the letter there, but read it after reaching home. The letter starts with the words ‘Lal Salaam’ and threatens to kill him and his son if he fails to pay the sum.
