The Mumbai Police arrested a 34-year-old woman from Gujarat for allegedly duping senior citizens on the pretext of providing dues from public schemes. The accused, identified as Shahidabibi Khan, has duped at least two women from western suburbs.
According to a report in Times of India, Shahidabibi Khan used to target women who were in their 70s. She used to convince them that she has contacts in the government departments. She would take the victim to a government office where she would ask them to take off all the ornaments before meeting the officials as it would "help them get their money sooner". Khan used to tell the victim that she will look after the ornaments and later she would flee with the valuables.
