The Ghatkopar police have arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly cheating a woman posing as an Intelligence Bureau officer. He had befriended the 32-year-old complainant over a dating app and allegedly stole her gold jewellery. The police said the accused, a Panvel resident, is married and might have duped more women, though his family says he suffers from a psychological disorder and is under medication.

In her complaint, the woman had alleged that she was friends with a man named Saurabh Thakur, who had identified himself as an IB officer. Both had met a couple of times. He once visited her home and stole gold ornaments worth Rs 17.5 lakh, she alleged.
