The Mira Road-based Kashimira unit of the Crime Branch recently arrested an accused involved in firing at a PWD engineer of the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) on the evening of September 29.

The accused has been identified as Amit Sinha, a resident of Bhadohi in Uttar Pradesh, who was working for gangster DK Rao, said Crime Branch officials. The victim was Deepak Khambit, a PWD officer attached with the MBMC.
Another accused involved in the firing is yet to be identified, they added.

The incident occurred on September 29 outside Sanjay Gandhi National park in Borivli (East). Sinha and another unknown accused, wearing white jackets, arrived on a bike and started firing on the PWD officer’s car. Khambit did not receive bullet injuries but was injured as the glass window of the car shattered during firing. He was rushed to Shatabdi hospital where he was treated and later released.
After the incident Sinha and his accomplice escaped from the crime spot and fled away towards Mira Road side from Western Express Highway.
Sinha has been arrested earlier for firing at Rohit Chedda, treasurer of a housing society. Sinha had also fired at a bookie-turned-developer Ajay Gosalia aka Ajay Ganda (52) in August 2013, which left him seriously injured.
