Actresses made to sign contract promising roles in films and series on OTT platforms

A Pornography racket where aspiring actresses would be forced into acting for porn videos after signing agreements purportedly for films and series on OTT has been busted by the police. The Property Cell of Mumbai Crime Branch arrested five accused, including two small-time actors, two women and 6 TB data containing hundreds of pornographic videos.

Police Inspector Kedari Pawar of the cell received information that a porn video is going to be shot in Madh village and a raid was conducted at Green Park bungalow on Ferry Road on Thursday. “The teams found a set up for a porn video and a scene being acted out on the bed,” said DCP Prakash Jadhav, Mumbai Crime Branch. The team led by PI Pawar took everyone in custody and the racket was revealed.
“They would sign agreements with the actresses without informing them of the terms and conditions and force them to shoot the videos,” an officer said. One such actress was rescued. An app, HotHit, was used to upload those videos, available to paid subscribers.
“The accused have earned Rs 36.6 lakh through the videos in two years,” the officer said. The name of the website would also be changed often to evade arrest. The accuse have been book under relevant sections if the IPC and IT Act.
