The Anti-Narcotics Cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested two people on April 27 in connection with a drug case. A 28-year-old man, identified as Aabid Shaikh from South Mumbai, was held after he was found in possession of the synthetic drug, Mephedrone (MD), which he had concealed inside the music system of his house. After Shaikh's arrest, another accused, Rohit Soni (21), a resident of Sewri, was also arrested. The drugs seized were worth Rs 76,20,000.

"Shaikh was under the scanner of ANC for the past few months. He is part of a gang operating in South Mumbai from Cuff Parade to Dharavi and is suspected to have been supplying synthetic drugs in huge quantities," an ANC officer told mid-day.
