Mumbai crime: Mumbai Police on Monday said that it seized charas worth Rs 7.57 lakh and arrested two persons for allegedly supplying and distributing the contraband, reported the PTI.

According to the news agency, the police arrested two suspects who were identified as Deepak Singh (29), a native of Uttar Pradesh, he had reportedly arrived to deliver 505 gms of charas in the western suburbs of Borivali on October 25, the official said.
On interrogation, Deepak Singh revealed that he had procured the contraband from one Asgarali Hussain, a resident of Chapra in Bihar, he said.
Hussain was subsequently nabbed from Chapra on November 2, the official said, adding that a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the duo.
Meanwhile, a 30-year-old man, wanted in connection with a ganja seizure, was apprehended by the police in Maharashtra's Palghar district after being on the run for four months, an official said on Monday, according to the PTI.
The police recently apprehended Lallu alias Bhavesh Prabhakar Chavan, a resident of Nalla Sopara, who had been absconding since June after a seizure of ganja, assistant police inspector Yeshpal Suryavanshi of Achole police station said.
Chavan was allegedly the financier in the entire racket, and has several offences to his name in the jurisdiction of Mira Bhayander Virar Vasai and Mumbai police, he said.
The accused allegedly supplied ganja with the help of four other accused involved in the racket, the official said.
A probe has revealed that Chavan was involved in serious offences such as extortion, attempt to murder etc and was arrested by the Mumbai police earlier, he said.
In an another incident last week, the police have arrested two persons for alleged possession of charas worth more than Rs 30 lakh in the western suburb of Khar in Mumbai, police said on Saturday, reported news agency PTI.
The police nabbed Bhairav Chowdhary (37) and Taufeek Shamshul Haque Ahmed (30) when they arrived to deliver the contraband in the Babasaheb Ambedkar Road area on October 25, an official said, reported PTI.
