A 65-year-old man, who was arrested on Tuesday on the charge of sexually abusing his granddaughter, died at the Borivli lockup on Wednesday afternoon after he suddenly fell ill. The Malvani police were supposed to produce him in court but he had to be rushed to Shatabdi Hospital. However, he was later shifted to JJ Hospital where he died during treatment.

According to police sources, the deceased’s daughter-in-law had filed the complaint with the Malvani police a couple of days back in which she had alleged that her father-in-law would watch porn videos and show the same to her daughter.  She had also complained that the accused would sexually abuse the child.  The deceased’s son had left the house a long time ago and the woman was residing with her father-in-law and two daughters.
