Man dupes kin of critical black fungus patient of Rs 1.8L, spends on wedding

Complainant, a Borivli resident, had transferred Rs 1.8L to the accused’s account for multiple doses of drug but injections never came his way

The MHB police have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly duping people of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of providing them with medicines used to treat mucormycosis. Recently, accused Rupesh Mohite cheated a Borivli West resident of Rs 1.80 lakh and used the money for his wedding. Complainant Raunak Agarwal was looking for someone who could arrange doses of the Amphotericin-B drug used in treating black fungus. His 41-year-old relative was admitted to DNS Hospital, Indore, and desperately needed the injections.
