Mumbai: Ragpicker attacks commuter with screwdriver at Dadar railway station

Police officials said that Ansari presumed Mali to be a ragpicker and thought that he would pick leftover items from the coach, leaving him with nothing.

A 33-year-old commuter, who had arrived at Dadar railway station from Jalgaon in Punjab Mail, was attacked by a ragpicker with a screwdriver following an altercation. The Dadar Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested the accused identified as Shauk Ansari on Thursday.

According to a report in Times of India, complainant Shivaji Mali hails from Jalgaon and works as a security guard in the western suburbs. On Tuesday, Mali boarded long-distance Punjab Mail to travel to Mumbai from Bhusaval. The express train reached platform number 6 of Dadar station around 6.45 am on Wednesday.
