The Mumbai crime branch sought further custody of 7 days, saying that they have seized lot of documents and the foreign financial transactions need to be probed further.
The crime branch also claimed before the court that over Rs one crore was deposited in the joint account of Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra and they have recorded Shilpa Shetty's statement regarding the same.
According to the crime branch officials, they have written to Google seeking some details about HotShots app and are waiting for their response, meanwhile Apple has responded to the Crime Branch explaining why HotShots was removed from their app store in June 2020.
Defence lawyer Abad Ponda told the court that the Crime Branch is seeking custody of Kundra on the same grounds they presented in the last hearing. “He has already spent more than 200 hours in police custody and if the court kept extending custody every time on such grounds then it will set a wrong precedent,” Ponda said.
After hearing the arguments from both sides, the court sent Kundra to judicial custody along with his IT head Ryan Thorpe. Both will be taken to either Taloja jail or Arthur road jail as per the availability of space in the prison.
