Teenager vandalises BEST bus, attacks driver with sword in Bhandup

In a shocking incident a teenager allegedly vandalised a Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport BEST bus and attacked its driver with sword in Bhandup area of eastern Mumbai the police said on SaturdayHe also damaged some more vehicles including autorickshaws and a water tanker police saidAccording to the police the incident took place on Saturday afternoon when a 16yearold boy attacked a BEST bus driver with a sword and caused damage to the vehicleThe teenager allegedly threatened and attacked the 42yearold BEST bus driverHe was driving the BEST bus which had left Vikhroli Bus Depot when the incident happened between 310 pm and 325 pm near Miniland Society in Tank Road area of Bhandup an official saidThe boy blocked the bus and threatened the driver with a sword He then tried to hit the driver with the weapon and used abusive language The teenager also broke the bus windows and caused damage to nearby autorickshaws and a water tanker The total loss is estimated to be around Rs 70000 a police official saidIt was immediately not clear what triggered him to vandalise the BEST busHe said that the teenage boy was previously involved in several cases under serious sectionsAs per police records he is was already in the conflict of the lawA viral video on social media showed the teenager breaking glass panels of the BEST bus with a swordAn offence has been registered in the matter and further investigations were underway the official said adding that the boy was detained following the incidentPolice detain minor brother for girls murderMeanwhile in an another incident the probe into the death of a 7yearold girl in Nalasopara in Palghar district of Maharashtra which was registered as an accidental death at first took a major twist with her minor brother being detained for murder a police official said according to the PTIThe girl was found dead in her house in Valaipada on April 17 and her father had told Pelhar police she hit her neck against a spanner after falling from a stool resulting in her death a police official saidBased on information provided by the father a case of accidental death was registered at Pelhar police station and the body was sent for post mortem to Mumbais JJ Hospital The autopsy report said she died of injuries around the neck A subsequent probe which included talking to neighbours and a thorough check of the site pointed the finger of suspicion at her juvenile brother he said according to the PTIThe official said the minor boy confessed during questioning that he had hit her with a slipper on April 17 after an argument over her refusing to have lunch despite his pleasHe has told us he got enraged when the victim abused him He took out a cloth cutter and inflicted injuries on her neck The boy then ran out of the house and later returned claiming someone had killed his sister He claimed he had run out to seek help the official said as per the PTIAfter further questioning confirmed his role the boy was detained for murder and handed over to Pelhar police station the Crime Branch official saidwith PTI inputsatOptionskeyd0ddb8ef8f1a62a8cdd22fac27fc5ea7formatiframeheight90width728params
