Mumbai: Three history-sheeters arrested for robbing senior citizen in Mulund

Three men have been arrested for robbing a 60yearold senior citizen at a knife point in Mulund a police official said on SaturdayThe accused have been identified as Ramesh Jaiswal 44 and his younger brother Naresh Jaiswal 39 as well as Dattaram Bangade 49The robbers had robbed 60yearold Madhukar Dalvi while he was returning home after visiting a post office One of the accused had approached the senior citizen and kept him busy talking while the other two rushed towards him and robbed him of 44gram gold ornaments and cash While the accused have been remanded to police custody till September 25 the cops suspect that the trio has done similar offences in Mumbai and nearby areasAccording to the police on September 8 while Dalvi a Thane resident was returning from the Mulund post office in the afternoon an unknown person waved hands at him and approached him The person asked whether Dalvi was able to recongise him or not While Dalvi couldnt remember and denied knowing him within a few seconds two more persons approached him and flashed a knife at himAlso Read UP Principal of private school booked for showing obscene video to studentOn September 8 they had robbed Dalvi of Rs 187 lakh in cash and gold They threatened him of stabbing and asked him to remove the gold ornaments and money from his pocket Dalvi gave away 22gram golden bracelet 15gram golden necklace 7gram golden ring and Rs 2000 cash said a police officer from Mulund police stationThe trio run away from the spot after robbing Dalvi The 60yearold victim rushed to Mulund police station and registered an offence against the unknown persons under IPC section 392 robbery 506 criminal intimidation and 34 common intentionAfter checking CCTV footage from the area cops got photos of the three accused who approached Dalvi The police also posted posters of the accused around Mulund so that residents would identify and give them a tipoffOn September 20 police received a tipoff that the trio are hiding in a lodge at Mahape near Shil Phata Road A team of Mulund cops raided the place and nabbed the suspect An identification parade was carried out and Dalvi identified the accusedKantilal Kothimbire Senior Inspector of Mulund police station said The accused have done a similar crime in Mumbai or nearby areas the detailed interrogation may give us more inputs about their crimesTill now the trio has done more than 100 cases of this nature and were targeting senior citizens particularly on the pretext of approaching and asking pehchane nahi kya All three accused were jailed in previous offences and had come out two months ago Since then they have committed 20 offences They are active in Mumbai Thane and Navi Mumbai Further probe into their network and activities is underway said Prashant Kadam DCP ZONE 7Cops have recovered property worth Rs 1485 lakh from them
