The DB Marg police station had apprehended two suspects for allegedly duping Rs 38,000 under the pretext of providing wholesale thalis from a reputed hotel.

The matter came to light when the complainant approached the police station to register a complaint.
According to the police, the victim came across an advertisement on social media offering discounted rates for golden thalis. Intrigued, the victim followed the provided link to a website.
The website claimed to offer a Rs 50 discount on thalis and hence the victim filled all the personal details and his credit card details on the website.
In a swift turn of events, Rs 38,000 disappeared from the victim's account, prompting the victim to report the incident to the police.
The police then came into action, after a technical investigation the cops traced the whereabouts of two alleged accused in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
"We identified the accused as Faizan Modan (30), who received the funds in his account, and the other suspect, Irfan Malik (35), who sent the fraudulent link to the victim," said a police officer.
The duo had been booked under Section 420 (Cheating) and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
