The Sakinaka police on Friday arrested two foreign nationals for allegedly smuggling cocaine worth Rs 9 crore into the country and trying to sell it in the illegal drug market in Mumbai. According to the Sakinaka police, the first arrest was made on Friday night, when a patrolling unit spotted the accused during a routine round.
“The accused spotted our personnel and tried to hail an autorickshaw to flee, but was intercepted before he could do so. A search of his person revealed 88 capsules containing cocaine, worth Rs 9 crore, in his bag. Subsequent inquiries confirmed that the drug was meant for illegal distribution in different parts of the city,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Datta Nalawade, Zone X.
