Navi Mumbai: Three booked for cheating home buyer of Rs 6 lakh

The Navi Mumbai police have registered an offence against three persons for allegedly cheating a home buyer of Rs 6 lakh an official said on Sunday reported news agency PTIBased on a complaint an offence under section 420 cheating of the Indian Penal Code was registered against brothers Ranjit and Bhimrao Lengde and Lal Mohan Mandal at Koparkhairane police station on Saturday he said reported PTIThe complainant has alleged that the trio promised to provide him a flat at a cheaper rate in a project by CIDCO and took Rs 6 lakh from him between June 2021 and October this year the official said reported PTIThe complainant confronted the trio when he did not receive a flat and soon realised that he had been cheated he said adding that no arrest has been made in the case so far reported PTIIn another case the Navi Mumbai police in Maharashtra have registered a case against eight persons for allegedly cheating a man and his relatives of nearly Rs 65 lakh after persuading them to invest in stocks promising high returns an official said on Saturday reported PTIThe complainant a resident of Kamothe told the police that he and his kin were defrauded between 2019 and 2022 the official said reported PTIIn his police complaint on Friday the man said the accused all from Bandra in Mumbai persuaded him and his relatives to invest in shares through their firm saying they would ensure high returns The victims made a total investment of Rs 651 lakh the official said reported PTIHowever when the victims asked for the gain on their investment and the principal sums the accused became unreachable said the station house officer of Kamothe police station quoting the complaint reported PTIThe Kamothe police have registered a cheating case against the eight accused he said adding that no arrest has been made yet reported PTIMeanwhile Police have arrested four persons from Navi Mumbai and seized 29 stolen mobile phones from their possession an official said on November 9 reported PTIWith these arrests the police have detected 17 offences of mobile phone thefts registered in Panvel taluka Kamothe Taloja Panvel town Khandeshwar Kalamboli Kharghar and CBD police station areas in Navi Mumbai senior police inspector Umesh Gavli said reported PTIAfter analysing CCTV footage and based on intelligence and technical inputs the police on Wednesday arrested the four persons all habitual offenders in the age group of 19 to 24 and hailing from Jalna Hingoli Yavatmal and Satara he said reported PTIThe accused were working as masons in Navi Mumbai the official said reported PTIThe police have seized 29 stolen mobiles and a motorbike collectively worth Rs 502 lakh from the accused he added reported PTIWith inputs from PTI
