NCB cop Sameer Wankhede files harassment complaint at NCSC

Sameer Wankhede meets the SC commission chairman

NCB Zonal Director, Mumbai, Sameer Wankhede on Monday visited the office of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes’ (NCSC) Chairman Vijay Sampla in Delhi, and filed a complaint over the allegations levelled against him by Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik.

The visit comes a day after the NCSC vice chairman met Wankhede at his residence on Sunday to check the documents of his caste.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer, in Delhi, alleged that Malik was harassing him and sharing his personal details on Twitter.

After the meeting, Sampla tweeted, “Met NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede. He has complained about the harassment, and fears that he may be framed in a wrong case.” ‘Will verify documents’

Later, addressing a press conference, Sampla said, “We will be verifying Wankhede’s documents with the Maharashtra government and if they are valid there should be no action against him.”

“I have presented all the documents sought by the commission and have narrated all the facts before the chairman. I have also given a complaint to the commission and that should be verified,” Wankhede told the media in Delhi.

Malik has alleged that Wankhede was born Muslim and used his father’s certificate to get a job under the SC category. The NCB officer has denied the allegations, saying that he was born Hindu.  The NCSC vice chairman had also said that there was nothing wrong in Wankhede’s caste certificate and he belongs to the SC community.

On Monday, Wankhede also visited the vigilance team of the NCB in Delhi, which is probing the wrongdoings of the agency as alleged by Prabhakar Sail — a panch witness of the NCB in the drugs-on-cruise case.
