Pedestrians run over: 'Minor was learning driving, hid car after accident'

Eyewitness leads cops to finding covered vehicle from another area; minor sent to Dongri children’s home while adult accused sent to cop custody

A minor who ran over and killed two pedestrians, while allegedly trying to learn to drive, near Everard Nagar BEST bus stop on Monday and the adult who was in the car with him fled from the spot, parked the car in another area and tried to cover it. The minor was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and has been sent to Dongri children’s remand home while the adult aboard the vehicle is in police custody. 

The accident occurred around 8 am on Monday when the minor, a Std XII student, was out to learn how to drive from Shlok Shelar, the other accused. Shelar allegedly let the teen drive while returning when the minor, driving at a speed of over 100 km per hour, lost control and ran over four pedestrians.
