Two jewellery shop employees were recently arrested from West Bengal for stealing gold worth Rs 22 lakh from a Dadar-based shop. The accused had, after committing the theft, called the shop owner to inform him about the theft and allegedly threw a challenge saying the police won’t be able to catch them. The police have also nabbed the mastermind from Mumbai.
As per Bhoiwada police, jeweller Akram Ali Shaikh had approached them on November 25 to register a case of theft against two of his employees for stealing around 20 tola of gold from his shop in Naigaon, Dadar. Shaikh had further said that the two accused were referred by one Asit Singh, 24, whom he had met a few years ago in Zaveri Bazar. Shaikh was allegedly in need of employees when he got in touch with Singh seeking reference, leading to Pradip Astomanna, 30, and S K Abdul Mansur Ali, 35, starting to work at his shop on November 23.
