The Wagle Estate police said the complainant, a model and Gujarat resident, had come to his relative's house in Thane to explore work opportunities in Mumbai.
The survivor told the police that he was friends with one Puneet Shukla through social media. When Shukla, 26, learnt about his arrival in Thane, he got in touch with him and the two met at Sathe Nagar on January 3 evening. Shukla had brought along another man.
After some time, Shukla said they could hang out at another place. "They took him to the terrace of an abandoned building," said an officer from Wagle Estate police station. "When they reached there, two more people came," the officer added.
The four allegedly pinned down the complainant and when he resisted, thrashed him with a stick. The complainant said three men raped him, while Shukla filmed the assault. The accused then snatched his wallet and tossed his away phone. They threatened to make the clip of the sexual attack viral if he approached the police before running away.
The survivor managed to find his phone and reached his relative's home at night. He told them about the assault and they filed a police complaint.
On Monday, the police arrested Shukla and two others, identified as Ravi Jaiswal, 34, and Arvind Prajapati, 23, the next day. The fourth person is still at large.
