A threat note was found in the lavatory of a Chennai-Mumbai IndiGo flight on Tuesday morning, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mumbai-two-bangladeshi-nationals-held-for-illegal-stay-in-city-23334976" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mumbai Police</a> said, according to the PTI.
Nothing suspicious was found on the aircraft and it was termed as a hoax later.
A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against unidentified persons for mischief, said an airport police station official, as per the PTI.
The threat note was found to be scribbled on a tissue paper and it was found minutes before the plane landed in Mumbai, the news agency reported on Tuesday.
"If you come to Mumbai, everyone will die," the note read.
The cabin crew of the aircraft immediately alerted the captain who informed the Air Traffic Control (ATC) about the incident, the official said.
The entire plane and passengers were searched but nothing suspicious was found, he said.
An FIR was registered against unknown persons under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code including section 505 (statement conducing to public mischief) and further investigation was underway, the official added.
'IndiGo flight 6E 5188 operating from Chennai to Mumbai had received a bomb threat post landing in Mumbai. All necessary protocols were followed and the aircraft was taken to a remote bay as per guidelines by airport security agencies,' the airline said in a statement.
Meanwhile, in an another incident, last week, the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) Police registered a case against an unknown individual for allegedly sending a threatening email to the office of the US consulate general in Mumbai, stated a report in ANI.
According to the report, the police officials acted quickly after receiving the information regarding the threatening email, which was sent on Saturday at around 3:50 am.
According to police officers at the Bandra-Kurla police station, an inquiry is presently under progress into the allegations made against the unidentified sender under sections 505(1)(b) and 506(2) of the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/maharashtra-man-duped-of-rs-89-lakh-in-online-share-trading-in-navi-mumbai-six-booked-23334946" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Indian Penal Code (IPC)</a>, the report added.
According to police sources, the email was supposedly sent by an absconding US citizen who threatened to detonate bombs at the American consulate and injure all US citizens present, ANI reported.
