Threat to Shah Rukh: Lawyer remanded in police custody to Nov 18

A Mumbai court on Thursday remanded a lawyer from Raipur in Chhattisgarh arrested over allegations of threatening to kill Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in police custody till November 18 reported the PTIThe Mumbai police had arrested the accused lawyer Fayzan Khan from Chhattisgarhs capital Raipur on TuesdayThe cops have not yet recovered the mobile phone from which the accused allegedly threatened to kill the superstar if Rs 50 lakh was not paid to him The Bandra Police have formed a team to trace the mobile phone and started an investigation into the matterA team of police officials had brought him to city after securing his transit remand from a Chhattisgarh courtOn Thursday Fayzan Khan was produced in the Bandra court where the police sought his remand for seven days for probing into the matterOn November 5 the Bandra Police received a threatening call from an unknown person who identified himself as Hindustani The caller claimed that he was standing outside Shah Rukh Khans Mannat bungalow in Bandra and threatened to kill the actor if he did not pay Rs 50 lakh After registering a first information report FIR against an unidentified caller under sections 3084 extortion involving threats of death or serious injury and 35134 criminal intimidation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita BNS the Bandra Police traced the mobile number to Fayzan Khan The cops sought for transit remand for the lawyer but he failed to be present for the investigation at Bandra Police Station On Tuesday the Bandra cops took Fayzan Khan into custody and brought him to MumbaiThe accuseds lawyers Amit Mishra and Sunil Mishra submitted that Fayzan Khans phone was stolen on November 2 which was Shah Rukh Khans birthday They also claimed that the lawyer had filed a missing complaint into the theftThey argued that the threat call made from his communication device was a conspiracy against him as he had earlier complained to the Mumbai Police against Shah Rukh Khan Khan over a dialogue in his movie Anjaam 1994 referring to deer huntingI hail from Rajasthan The Bishnoi community whose members mainly reside in Rajasthan is my friend It is in their religion to protect deer So if a Muslim says something like this about deer it is condemnable Therefore I raised an objection Fayzan Khan saidAfter hearing both the sides the court on Tuesday remanded the accused in police custody till November 18The threat to Shah Rukh Khan follows a series of such phone calls targeting fellow actor Salman Khan allegedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gangWith PTI inputs
