In two separate incidents of robbery on skywalks in Thane city and Navi Mumbai; following complaints, the police have registered cases, stated a report in PTI.

According to the report, in Thane, a 26-year-old man was heading home after work when he was approached by the thief from behind. The youth was walking on the skywalk near R Mall around 8 pm on Sunday. The youth sustained injuries in an attempt to retrieve his phone as the accused resorted to using physical violence.
The PTI report added that the aggressor threatened the youth and told him not to complain to the police or he would face dire consequences.
In a parallel incident in Navi Mumbai at Turbhe Naka, another 26-year-old man became the victim of a harrowing robbery. The complainant was walking along the skywalk around 7.30 pm when he encountered a group of four, including two women, who resided beneath the skywalk. Reportedly, the group attacked the victim's head with a knife which resulted in injuries and made off with his mobile phone and cash totalling Rs 4,100. The complainant, despite being injured, approached the police soon after the incident.
PTI report stated that the police have launched a probe into the incidents.
Meanwhile, in Thane, a senior citizen fell victim to a scam and he was defrauded of nearly Rs 50,000 by the scammer. According to a report in PTI, a 63-year-old resident of the city, fell victim to a redeemable reward points scam. Allegedly the complainant, who worked at a business consultancy firm in Navi Mumbai, told the police that he had received a message on August 18 from the bank where he has an account. It was a reminder to him about expiring reward points worth Rs 5,899 and included a link along with a customer ID which was similar to his banking credentials. Believing it to be authentic, the complainant followed the instructions and also added his OTP following which he lost nearly Rs 49,983.
He later went to the bank and discovered the money was transferred to another bank account. He subsequently filed a complaint with the police on Saturday; a case has been registered against the unidentified accused under relevant sections of the IPC and IT Act.
