Two teachers from Navi Mumbai school booked for harassing 6-year-old student

Two teachers from a private school in Navi Mumbai have been booked for allegedly harassing and assaulting a 6yearold student police said on Friday reported news agency PTIThe FIR against the teachers from the school at Kamothe came on a complaint by the childs parents an official saidCiting the parents account the official said a teacher summoned a girl from another class on November 14 and asked her to slap a boy on his cheeks five to six times The teacher allegedly watched and laughed as the child was humiliated he said reported PTIDuring an English period on November 28 another teacher allegedly struck the same child on his face with a metal compass box causing his lip to swell according to the complaintAfter a preliminary probe a case was registered at the Kamothe police station on Wednesday under the Juvenile Justice Care and Protection of Children Act reported PTIWe are conducting a probe into the conduct of the staff and the schools environment said an official from the police stationBusinessman duped of Rs 53 lakh by woman he met through dating appIn another case a 52yearold citybased businessman was allegedly cheated of Rs 53 lakh by a woman who befriended him through a dating app and induced him to invest in a fraudulent scheme police said on Thursday reported PTIThe complainant who is in the logistics business and also runs a marketing company had created an account on a dating app as he wanted to marry and received a friend request from a female user who identified herself as Priyanka Gupta a resident of Juhu said a police official reported PTIShe told him that she had separated from her husband and was living with her sixyearold daughter the official saidThe two then started chatting on WhatsApp According to the complainant the woman told him that she wanted to marry a businessman and not a salaried personSoon they decided to get married On October 13 the woman told the complainant that she did gold trading through a firm called Market Axess Company and he too should invest in it as it paid handsome returns reported PTIInitially hesitant the complainant eventually agreed to invest The woman created an account for him on the companys platform and over a period he deposited a total of Rs 5330 lakh according to the complaint reported PTIHis account showed that his virtual balance had grown to Rs 108 crore but when he tried to withdraw some of the amount the company executives told him that he would first have to deposit 30 per cent of the amount reported PTIAs he could not arrange the money he requested a refund of his principal investment but the company representatives started giving him evasive replies the complaint saidRealising that he had been duped the businessman approached the police and lodged a complaintA First Information Report has been registered against two unidentified persons for alleged cheating and offences under the Information Technology Act the police official said adding that investigation is underwayWith inputs from PTI
