Vegetable vendor shot dead by 2 unidentified men in Virar

A Virar-based vegetable vendor was shot dead by two unidentified men on Saturday.


The deceased, identified as Samay Vikaramsingh Chauhan (35), is a resident of Agrawal Complex near Gokul heights, Virar West.


According to the police, the incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when Chauhan was going towards his car parked outside Bhaji market at Manvelpada in Virar West. Two unidentified men came on a bike and one of them fired four rounds of bullet and murdered Chauhan in broad daylight. There were more than a hundred people in the market when the incident took place.


The complainant identified as Shashikant Vikaramsingh Chauhan (38), brother of deceased Samay Chauhan told police, "There was dispute since last 10 years over a building construction work at Virar between his brother Samay Chauhan and Nishant Kadam, Sudesh Chaudhary and Anurag Pandey. Due to this dispute, in September 2021, Nishant Kadam was murdered and Kadam alleged that deceased Samay Chauhan was involved in the murder. However, there was no evidence found”. Samay Chauhan had also told to his brother that his life was in danger. He had said that Nishant’s brother Nikhil Kadam, Shiddharth Kadam and their colleagues Sham Yadav, Anurag Pandey and Raj Yadav will kill him at any time.

Chauhan received a call on Saturday at 1.30 pm and someone told him that his brother was shot and they are taking him to the hospital. Shashikant rushed to spot and found blood on road outside Bhaji market. “The locals told me that the shooter was in a white shirt and black pants and biker was in red shirt aged of 25-30 years old," the deceased brother told cops in a police statement. 

"We have registered the case against nine people including Nikhil Kadam, Siddharth Kadam, Sham Yadav, Anurag Pandey, Raj Yadav, Rahul Dubey and two unknown shooters and Sudesh Chaudhary under section IPC 302, 120-B, Arms act 1959 of section 3, 25 and 27," a police officer told mid-day.
