Thane Crime: Chartered accountant arrested for generating fake input tax credit of Rs 92 crore
The Thane rural commissionerate on December 15 arrested a charted accountant for allegedly generating fake input tax credit (ITC) of Rs 92 crore involving fake invoices of more than Rs 500 crore without actual receipt of goods. The accused was produced before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Mumbai and the court has remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days.
Owner sells flat in Kandivli attached by I-T dept to couple
A school teacher and her husband were cheated of Rs 80 lakh by a flat owner who sold them an apartment in Kandivli which was already attached by the Income Tax Department. The complainant, Deepali More, found out about it when she approached the housing society to get a no objection certificate. Samta Nagar police have registered a case and booked the flat owner as well as the real estate agent who introduced the complainant with the accused.
Mumbai: NCB seizes drugs worth Rs 13 crore, raids various locations
On December 14, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) exposed the smuggling of drugs from Mumbai to foreign countries for the New Year's Eve party. The agency took action in eight places in Mumbai and seized drugs worth around Rs 13 crore. The seized drugs were to be smuggled to Australia, New Zealand, Maldives, Dubai, USA, hidden in stethoscopes, ties, bicycle helmets, ovens, bangles, food bags. An Ivory Coast citizen identified as John Bkayoko has been arrested by the NCB.
25-year-old woman’s headless body found inside cottage in Matheran
The headless body of a 25-year-old woman was found inside a cottage at Matheran by a cleaner on December 12. The woman’s boyfriend, who had visited the cottage with her, is the main suspect and is currently absconding, the police said. Neither the woman nor the accused have yet been identified as they had used fake documents while checking in at the hotel. Matheran police have registered a case.
Thane man dupes 26 women of Rs 2.5 crore on matrimonial sites; arrested
Thane Police arrested a 44-year-old man for allegedly duping over Rs 2.5 crore from at least 26 women through matrimonial websites. An inquiry was initiated against the accused, identified as Prajit Keje after a Thane-based woman registered a complaint against him earlier in December. The accused has been remanded in police custody till December 20.
