More than seven months after five-year-old Shruti Naik (name changed) was molested by a watchman in her school, the All India Balkan-ji-Bari School at Santacruz, the hearing in the case will begin today at the Sessions Court now that her medical reports are finally ready.

However, an official overseeing the prosecution case said that Shruti's case was weak, as her mother Sheela (name changed) had not given all the details of the incident to the government hospital where Shruti was taken for her medical tests.
No action taken
Said Sheela, "We don't want to malign the name of the school.
We only want our daughter to be safe there. It was only when the school refused to take action against the watchman or give us an assurance that our daughter will be safe that we decided to file a police complaint."
Added Sheela, "Many people had offered their support after the incident, but no one is coming forward to support us now that the trial is set to begin. I feel isolated."
The accused is in judicial custody.
The Incident
On January 15, at around 9.30 am, Shruti stepped out of the classroom where she was watching a movie to drink water.
Watchman Gulabchandra Yadav saw her alone in the corridor and took her to the administration office, where he allegedly molested her.

August 2009: Sameer Dondilkar (30) from Mira Road was arrested for repeatedly molesting his six-year-old step-daughter and threatening to kill her.
According to the girl, Sameer used to touch her private parts and finger-rape her when her mother was not at home.
June-July 2009: Rajinder Nadial, the vice-principal of a private school in Chandigarh, allegedly undressed and molested a Class IV girl student over two months under the pretext of teaching her computers in his office.
April 2009: Ramakant Kasurde (50), owner of a school bus was arrested for allegedly molesting girl students under the age of eight over a period of two months, while dropping them home.
