Members of the Om Shivshankar Shakari Grihnirman Society had been opposing builder GM Kakade's plans to construct an electrical substation, water tank and fitness centre in the basement of their proposed building in Bhoiwada village, and repeated talks between the two parties had yielded no results.

Breakthrough meet
Both parties finally had a meeting with local MLA Kolambkar on June 29, where they agreed upon a charter of demands.
All demands of the residents were accepted except that the Rs 50 lakh that had earlier been earmarked by the builder as a corpus fund for the proposed society was now be given to the MLA.
The residents claim the builder put the clause, and the builder claims it was inserted by the residents.

Interestingly, the MLA says he doesn't know who put the clause favouring him or why. "It is true that these people approached me.
However, on June 29, it is the residents and the builder who met, and I had no say in it," said Kolambkar.
Nobody's baby
G M Kakade, the builder, in turn, passed the buck to the residents. "The entire charter has been drafted by the residents, including the clause you mention," said Kakade.

Residents say there is no reason why they would want to write away the corpus money that is rightfully theirs.

"Why would we allow our money to be given to someone else? It is the builder who inserted the clause.
We have no issues with the builder, except that we just don't want a tank, fitness centre and electrical substation in our basement," said Nitin Chavan, a resident.
