Fire brigade receives 5,000 letters of appreciation

The 26/11 heroes list is inco-mplete without the firemen who rescued several people stranded in the Taj, Oberoi and Trident hotels.

Quite naturally, the letters of appreci- ation have poured in from all over India and the world.

Uday Tatkare, chief fire officer, said, "These letters are like a trophy for us. They are no less than the bravery awards our team received.

They not only put out the blaze, but saved over 400 people."

The fire brigade has received more than 5,000 letters, stacked carefully in three bags.

"These letters will inspire us to do better in the future. We have made a collage of the letters, which will be displayed during our seminars and functions," added Tatkare.
