Director Shakeel Noorani alleges the actor has been harassing him by framing him in an extortion case

Shakeel Noorani, who is fighting a financial dispute case against Sanjay Dutt, has alleged that the actor has been harassing the director by framing him in an extortion case.

Noorani was summoned by Unit 5 of the crime branch between 3 and 5 pm in Kurla for questioning in the 2005 extortion case. (Dutt had received extortion calls from the underworld which, he alleged, were planted by the director).

Nooraniu00a0has alleged that he paid Dutt Rs 50 lakh for the movie but the actor never showed up. This made him incur losses running into crores

"I reached there around 3.40 pm, but returned in a few minutes as there was not a single policeman there," he said.

According to the director, Dutt has been harassing him for no reason. "I don't even know about the case.

Sanjay has been harassing me by filing fake cases since I filed a case against him, demanding compensation for the Rs 2-crore loss that I had to suffer when the actor unceremoniously moved out of my film Jaan Ki Baazi (the film was later shelved)."

The director claimed that he had paid Rs 50 lakh to Dutt as the signing amount for Jaan Ki Baazi.

But the actor did not give him dates for the shooting, which delayed the film for years and made him incur losses to the tune of Rs 1.53 crore.u00a0

Seeing no respite in sight, Noorani filed a complaint against Sanjay at Indian Motion Pictures Producer's Association (IMPPA), which eventually issued orders to attach the actor's Pali Hill flat and office in Mayfair building at Santacruz.

Court hearing

Dutt had moved the court challenging the IMPAA's attachment orders. He alleged that a fabricated order was passed by IMPAA, which was siding with Noorani.

Dutt, in his petition, has sought detachment of his property. He contended that the Mayfair flat could not have been attached as it was owned by his wife Maanayata.
