City-based NGO raises funds to support Sunita Yadav, whose in-laws isolated her after receiving compensation from the government
The terror attacks in Mumbai left Sunita Yadav (31) distraught. Her world came crashing down as her husband Upendra fell prey to the terrorist's bullets at CST and her in-laws siphoned away with a Rs 5 lakh compensation cheque from the government.
"My baby has been ill and my in-laws have isolated me. Fortunately, they have not been able to encash the cheque because there was a stop order after it was stolen," said Sunita.
Touched by her plight, 117 Mumbaikars have raised Rs 4.3 lakh with the help of NGO I Love Mumbai for Sunita and her four-month old daughter, Sheetal. "I will use this money to fund Sheetal's education. I want her to become a doctor," said Sunita, who is staying with her parents in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh.
"The money will help me make a beginning," added Sunita.
Shaina NC member of the NGO, said, "The important thing is that Sunita finds work and can support herself, and her daughter receives proper education." Sunita has applied for a job with the Railways.
