A nine-year-old girl from Varsha Nagar, Vikhroli, was allegedly raped by her 15-year-old neighbour yesterday afternoon.
The incident came to light only after she complained of pain last evening and was immediately admitted at the Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar.u00a0
According to the police official the incident took place around 1.30 pm when both their parents were at work. "We came to know about the incident at 10 pm, after which we lodged an FIR and the girl was examined."
Investigations revealed that the accused was none another than his 15-year-old neighbour. He took her to his home and committed the crime," said an official from Vikhroli Park (W) police station.
The police are now searching for the boy who is absconding. A police team has been sent to Bhusawal. According to the parents of the accused, this is where the boy was sent with his uncle after the crime came to light. "We are yet to take the victim's statement, as she is unwell," said the official.
A rape case has been lodged, under IPC sections of 376, 377 IPC, has been registered against the accused.
