A man called Raju brought her to LTT after promising to marry her; he gave her a pill, after which she lost consciousness, only to wake up nude in a wooded area near the station
A 16-year-old girl from West Bengal was raped after being brought to the city, and the police are yet to ascertain whether the survivor was gang-raped. Moreover, they are still puzzled over which police station should investigate the case. According to the police officials, the accused, identified only as Raju, had brought the girl to the city on the pretext of marrying her.

A policeman said, requesting anonymity, “The girl went out of her house after her mother asked her to get some biscuits, but instead of going back home, she went to the local Bachkul bus stand to meet a person called Raju, who had told her that he would take her to Mumbai where he’d marry her in a temple. She was hesitant initially but she believed him as she had known him for a year.”

The girl alleged that Raju had been talking to someone over the phone in Bengali, giving them details of their arrival at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Kurla. After reaching LTT here on November 20, they met two individuals, believed to be around 20-21 years old, with whom Raju was conversing in Bengali.
“While Raju and the survivor were at the platform, she complained of headache and Raju gave her a red tablet which made her hazy. Raju then took her to a forested patch outside the station, claiming there was a temple there where they could get married,” added the officer.
In the woods, the girl lost consciousness. After a few hours, she awoke and realised she was on the ground without any clothes on, and Raju was standing in front of her. “After she put on her clothes, Raju took her back to the platform, where the two individuals they had met before were also present. The three men met a constable, handed him something and left.
The constable then took the girl outside the station, from where she was taken to Tilak Nagar police station,” added the officer. Cops there sent the girl to the Dongri Children’s Home, where she started complaining of severe stomach pain. “After being taken to the hospital, the doctors declared that she had been raped and her statement was recorded on November 26 by a special panel.
She claimed that she hadn’t said anything initially because she was scared of the cops,” said another officer. However, Kurla GRP officials claim that the constable, who is suspected of taking a bribe and letting the three accused flee, belonged to Tilak Nagar police, while the Tilak Nagar police blame the Kurla GRP.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone VI), N Singh, said, “A special panel has been formed to carry out preliminary investigations and the case has been registered with Nehru Nagar police station.” The Nehru Nagar police, in whose jurisdiction the woods fall, was unaware of this development till late night.
