Thane youth reportedly takes own life due to stress over postponed wedding

A 19yearold man from Maharashtrarsquos Thane district reportedly died by suicide police said Tuesday citing mental stress caused by his familyrsquos insistence on delaying his marriageAccording to the news agency PTI the incident occurred on November 30 in DombivliThe youth originally from Jharkhand was in love with a girl from his hometown and wished to marry her However his family asked him to wait until he turned 21 the legal age for marriage leading to emotional distress according to an official from Manpada police stationOn November 30 the man allegedly hanged himself from the ceiling of his house using a scarf he said reported PTIHis family later rushed him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead upon arrivalThe police have registered a case of accidental death and initiated a probe into the incident the official said reported PTICyber fraudstersrsquo online task racket linked to youth suicide in MumbaiIn another similar incident a 17yearold youth died by suicide after he was misled and financially trapped by the fraudstersThe deceased boy a resident of Meghwadi in Mumbais Jogeshwari area was a Class XII student Nearly 11 months after his death the Andheri Railway Police have finally registered an FIR against eight accused involved in the online scamAccording to sources the boy was active on several social media platforms In January he left home for class as usual but did not return that night His parents tried contacting him but his phone was switched offLate that night an unknown person called Vighneshrsquos father and asked him to come to Cooper Hospital where they were informed that a youth had died after jumping in front of a train at Jogeshwari railway station Based on his clothes and body structure the family identified the deceased Initially the Andheri Railway Police registered an Accidental Death Report ADRldquoInvestigating an accident involving a dismembered body was challenging At the spot police recovered a broken mobile phone which became the key to the case Senior Inspector Nitin Londhe and his team examined the damaged phone and began tracing the events that led to the suiciderdquo said an officerDuring the technical analysis police discovered several apps and chat records indicating that the deceased had been defrauded through an online task scheme Further inquiry revealed that he had been mentally distressed after being cheated financiallyAfter months of investigation the police concluded that the deceased had been deceived and pushed into severe stress ultimately leading to his suicide Based on these findings a case was registered against eight individualsldquoDuring the investigation we found that in December a scammer messaged the deceased offering a parttime job He was added to a Telegram group and assigned socalled ldquotasksrdquo While completing these tasks he ended up paying Rs 49000 which the fraudsters never returnedThe prolonged mental pressure and deception allegedly drove the teen to take this extreme step Further investigation is underwayrdquo the officer addedWith PTI inputs
