The rain gods are out to break their own records. After Saturday was declared to be the second wettest day in August in 10 years, Sunday has surpassed the previous record, making it the highest on a day in any August this decade

The rain gods are out to break their own records. After Saturday was declared to be the second wettest day in August in 10 years, Sunday has surpassed the previous record, making it the highest on a day in any August this decade.

According to data provided by MET officials, Santacruz received a whopping 232.6 mm of rain compared to Saturday's 220.4 mm rainfall whereas Colaba received 178.6 mm rainfall bringing the city to a halt as rail, road and air services were crippled.

And this is not the end of it. Weather officials added the next 48 hours would be the same with Mumbaikars having to brave heavy showers.

"Intermittent rain will occur in parts of the city and suburbs. Gusty winds will accompany heavy rain in some areas," saidu00a0 an official.

IMD authorities have forecast rain over Konkan-Goa, MP, Maharashtra, and Marathwada and Gujarat region till August 31.
